                            About Us

                            Picture
We live in northern Wisconsin about 6 or 7 miles from Lake Superior.  We have a small flock of chickens, some woods, a little open space.

This picture was taken last summer when we were building our chicken coop and we were flummoxed by how to run a quick-square to work with the angle of the roof.

                            Picture
A company, Gogebic Taconite (or GTAC) purchased an option to lease a 22 mile stretch of the Penokee Range in northern Wisconsin in order to operate a huge open-pit mine.  One of the arguments used is that the area isn't very pristine and a mine wouldn't be hurting anything all that much.  Look at the pictures and decide for yourself whether or not this land is worth saving.

                            Why "Big Bear"?

                            Picture
The name "Big Bear" comes from "Moquah" which is Algonquin for "bear."
